Re-Volt Classic App Reviews

I have never played any other version of this, so this will be an honest and untainted review from a pick up and play viewpoint. Start with good: 1. Nice graphics. 2. Decent music. 3. Very nice variety in cars and tracks. 4. Does not -require- constant online connectivity. Now the bad: 1. Controls are floaty. It is easy to over steer. 2. Tracks are confusing and hard to navigate. 3. Really bad placement of unnecessary walls to get stuck behind. 4. Multiplayer is buggy at times. 5. Artificial Intelligence seems a little too precise at times. 6. Not beginner-friendly. If you take time to practice you may like this. It has a surprising amount of content. The graphics are pretty good, but sometimes a little busy. The problem is that you cant just pick it up and play and expect to be able to win. The learning curve is too steep for a pick up and play game. Even on the practice track you will find yourself turned around, wrecking, and trying to hit narrow ramps that can be frustrating. The real tracks are loaded with corners and walls that will cause infuriating crashes and hangs. Without practice, you wont place in a winning position and neither will this game.

This app is a terrible driving app. The controls and handling of the car are not good, and after buying the app, you still need to buy more maps for more money. Uninstall.

Played countless hours on the Dreamcast, and it is awesome to see this ported over for IOS. Now I want to see Rush, Hydrothunder, and Vigilante 8 Second Offense on here!

Its one of my favorite game in my childhood,I like it so much because it brings to me so much happiness.Now it finally been taken on iOS,thanks to the developer!!

The right direction command stops after a while

This is a fun game to waist some spare time on. I think Im gonna keep it around for a while.

Great easy, fun and laid back game to just chill but also to compete in. I do switch go-to games a lot. But so far this week this is defiantly my favorite game!

Apparently some people have some emotional connection that alters their judgement...terrible game with terrible controls and horrible graphics. I had an original playstation too but theres a reason I dont play those games anymore...

I got to admit this game is awesome

I played this originally on the PC several years ago. Over time I lost the game, so I was happy to see it show up on the App Store. After playing it for a while, I can say it is pretty faithful to the original release. The controls can be twitchy and yes, it is easy to get stuck in front of a wall or some other obstacle. That said, the motion controls are good once you get used to them. The tracks are what I remember from the original version, just as fun and challenging as ever. This is a game that doesnt take itself too seriously (youre racing R/C cars, after all), and if youre looking for a quick racing fix, give this a look.

This game faithfully recreates the experience on the Sega Dreamcast. Very well done.

I love the game, but I admit that it is a bit of a learning curve for those that dont take the time to do it. Would defininately love the track editor though.

I have this game on the Nintendo 64 and PC and it is by far, one of the best racing games Ive ever played. Smooth graphics and controls, everything looks just like the PC version also :) one game I really would like to see come back up one day is Extreme-G. That game was fun and a lot of todays kids probably dont know anything about it, but if that game becomes an ios port, Im sure a lot of people will love it.

The dark areas off various tracks are BAD. Visibility stinks. Also, there are too many "display" items on the screen while racing, again interfering with visibility. Makes for a frustrating racing experience. Finally, some cars tip on their side and you cannot upright them. You have to give up the race and start over.

Improve the controls. Touch needs reverse buttons on either side, one for left reverse, and one for right. And both at once goes straight. Virtual joypad needs to have better response, so that sliding your finger over the controls presses them, so I dont end up turning left the whole time if I dont lift my finger off. And lastly, the virtual joysticks need a dead zone option, and a sensitivity option, complete with an acceleration curve option. That would improve the game so much, that a real r/c car enthusiast would likely enjoy it.
